Our Mission and Vision
As a Slater Community, we grow our hearts and minds, expand our knowledge and skills to empower life-long learners.
Our School
Slater is more than a school, it is a family. Our staff focuses its attention on providing the best possible education and experience for all students. Slater is a PK-5 school nestled in Lakewood, Colorado. Our school is steeped in traditions that include a fall festival that draws students, families and alumni and a winter dance that brings students together.
One of the reasons our community is so close is because of the extraordinary experience we provide our students with. At Slater we believe that through amazing experiences both in and out of the classroom our students will realize both their potential and be exposed to new possibilities. Some of these experiences this year have included: the zoo, the Colorado Symphony, hikes, and the Arvada Center.
Common experiences are also provided for students in the classroom. Every classroom teacher is Orton Gilliangham Trained. This training allows our teachers to provide direct and explicit literacy instruction that is both multi-sensory and individualized to ensure all students grow as readers. In addition to this specific approach we have a highly qualified veteran teaching staff that is continually seeking to improve and grow by obtaining advanced degrees and additional training. Outside of their professional qualifications each teacher at Slater is personally invested in the experience and education of every child.
