Attendance
Regular daily attendance in class is prime importance in the education process. Students are expected to attend school for all the days of the established school calendar, as approved annually by the Board of Education in compliance with the Colorado School Attendance Law.
Attendance is the responsibility of the student, the parents and the school. The importance of regular, daily attendance as a basis for academic achievement cannot be overemphasized.
Absences and Tardies
Absences have a negative effect on instruction continuity, regardless of the attempts to make up work. The regular contact of students with one another in the classroom and their participation in well-planned instructional activities under the instruction of a competent teacher are vital to this purpose. The school cannot teach students who are not present.
Excessive tardies and absences will be referred to the district-mandated attendance policies and sanctions.
All absences and tardies must be reported to the office the day they occur. Personal vacations taken during regularly scheduled school session are discouraged. Pre-arranged absences must be approved by the office by filling out a pre-arranged absence form.
For any absence or tardy, students will be expected to make up any work.
When children are absent, parents are asked to call the attendance line ahead of time to notify the office.

Tardiness
Tardiness is defined as the appearance of a student without proper excuse after the scheduled time (7:45 a.m.) that class begins. Because of the disruptive nature of tardiness and the detrimental effect upon the rights of non-tardy students to uninterrupted learning, consequences shall be imposed for excessive tardiness. Parents or guardians shall be notified of all penalties regarding tardiness.
Students who arrive after the 7:45 a.m. bell must check in at the office.
Arrival
Student must not arrive at school before 7:25 a.m. except for a scheduled appointment with a staff member. To ensure your child’s safety, please be sure they do not arrive before 7:25 a.m. The school district and school assume no responsibility for students who arrive before 7:25 a.m.
Soft Start
Student will be released to their classroom to start their day at 7:35 a.m.. Their teacher will be in the room to supervise and support students at this time.
Dismissal
Once in school, children are excused to leave only upon the personal request of a parent. As a safety precaution, children leaving school before regular dismissal must be checked out through the office. Children will only be released to those persons whose names are on the student’s emergency contact information. If you must pick up your child during school hours, please come to the office, sign him/her out, and the office will send for your child. Please do not go directly to the classroom. This policy is for the protection of our students.
At dismissal, to ensure student safety, all students are to leave school grounds immediately. After 2:45 p.m., any students remaining on school grounds waiting to be picked up will be directed to the office. Chronic problems will be reported to the principal.
Attendance in Jeffco
The importance of regular, daily school attendance as a basis for academic achievement cannot be overemphasized. Attendance is a shared responsibility of the student, the families and the school.
It is the family’s responsibility to ensure their student attends school and to notify the school when their student is absent for a legitimate reason, such as an illness or family emergency. Each family should also ensure their student’s school has their correct contact information so that the school is able to communicate about any attendance issues that may arise.
